JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Weeks after Action News brought you the story of a dog’s abuse comes word of another dog that experienced a similar fate.
Nearly $21,000 was donated by the public to the Jacksonville Humane Society after our story about Abby aired.
Two of Abby’s legs shattered when the small Chihuahua was thrown from a car.
Her surgeries cost nearly $2,500, leaving more than $18,000 available in the “Mend a Friend” fund.

The fund came to the aid of Chaz, who recently suffered two broken legs after being hit by a car.
Specialists at the Humane Society tell Action News that Chaz was operated on right away because of the outpouring of financial support sent to Abby.
The JHS reports that both dogs are now recovering in the care of their new owners.
