PALM COAST, Fla. -- Flagler County Sheriff's deputies arrested a Palm Coast man Friday for shooting after an argument with his wife.

Christopher Avellar, 29, of Riding Place, was arrested at his father's home at 4 Waywood Place about 10:15 p.m. after witnesses reported a gun being fired in the area.

Deputies said Avellar and his wife had been arguing earlier. His wife left and went to the Waywood Place home. Around 10 p.m., Avellar showed up and began to violently bang on the front door. The elder Avellar went outside to talk to his son and they began arguing.

According to deputies, Christopher Avellar went to his vehicle and retrieved a .45-caliber handgun. Witnesses said Avellar walked to the house and pointed the gun, shooting once. Six people were inside the home at the time. Deputies recovered a spent shell inside a cabinet in the garage.

Avellar was arrested and charged with six counts of shooting into an occupied dwelling, aggravated assault and domestic violence. He is being held without bond in connection with shooting the gun.
