PALM COAST, Fla. -- The Flagler County Sherriff's Office says they were forced to shoot a 32-year-old man after he threatened a deputy with a machete.

Police say they arrived at a home on Brownstone Lane in Palm Coast to find Troy Gordon with a machete and a bible. They say Gordon then began approaching the deputy, threatening him. The deputy tazed Gordon, then, they say, another deputy was forced to shoot him.

Family members told police Gordon may have used synthetic marijuana.

Both deputies involved in the incident are on administrative leave.

FDLE is investigating.
