BRUNSWICK, GA -- When she got back from the hospital with a bullet wound to her leg, Sherry West invited Action News into her living room still littered with items belonging to her baby boy, Antonio. The 13 month old was killed just a few hours earlier. She says it was during a robbery attempt by a couple of kids.

She says she was walking her child in his stroller just yards from their Brunswick, Georgia home at about 9 a.m.

"Two boys approached me. Two African American boys. One of them was about 15," said West. "He said, 'I'm going to kill you if you don't give me money,' and I said, 'I swear I don't have any.'"

She says the other boy appeared younger than 10 years old; the older one pointed a handgun.

Little Antonio's father, Louis Santiago, told Action News he wishes he could have been there to protect his family.

Santiago said, "He was special. He had the bluest, bluest eyes."

"I put my arms over my baby and he shoves me and then he shot my baby right in the head," said the child's tearful mother.

West said she began CPR on her baby's lifeless body while wondering to herself how a couple of boys could get their hands on a real gun. "But when I saw him shoot my baby and he died, I knew it was real," said West.

SimpleRogue,You hit the nail on the head. The first uncut raw video where the mother was wearing the red top showed glaring inconsistencies in her story. I watched it a few times and it was shocking how inconsistent it was. The edited video that is up now omits key elements that show there is something distinctly wrong with the mother. Please put the ORIGINAL video of the interview where Sherry West is wearing the red shirt. We deserve the right to see it!

Where did the ORIGINAL video go? It was much longer and more detailed than the current video. What's up with that?

I am "concerned" at this mother and her "detail." I do believe that there is more to this story. Why kill that poor baby and leave the mother alive. Your baby get shot in the face "right before your eyes, and you are "able" to offer such detail. You have not once deviated from your story. Sounds a little rehearsed to me.

Black or White DOES matter because it is always black. Please point to a story of Whites shooting 16 year old babies in their strollers...Anybody? blacks do this and then chide the public when they speak the truth. Here is the reporter for the Washington Post talking about black crime in New York city in 2010, for which most blacks accused him of being an "Oreo": "In short, 95.1 percent of all murder victims and 95.9 percent of all shooting victims in New York City are black or Hispanic. And 90.2 percent of those arrested for murder and 96.7 percent of those arrested for shooting someone are black and Hispanic. I don't even know where to begin to describe the horror I still feel looking at those numbers. But the word "hunted" comes to mind." It is about black crime 24/7/365. Now they shoot babies in strollers. Remember the Black Panthers saying, "You want Freedom? You gonna have to kill some Crackers, You are going to have to kill some Cracker Babies". Well I guess they are. They will reap what they sow.

RIP little Antonio, and god bless the mother and father for the pain and suffering they will feel over the loss of this precious little boy.

It's amazing and disgusting just how judgmental we all can be! Do you truly know how YOU would react in a time of shock!?! I don't, and I don't think you all really know either, until you are faced with it. Everyone should get off of their almighty "high horses", and the truth will prevail. White or Black doesn't matter. This is a tragedy for ALL involved. My prayers and condolences for this poor little boy and his family.

This is such a terrible tragedy and my heart is with the baby, may his soul rest in peace. I have been reading a lot of the comments on here and seeing the race card being brought up more than a few times. I have to say, I lived in Brunswick for three years. In those three years I have seen a lot of crime, mostly committed by african american boys/men which is fact, not racism. I am in no way racist as I have many black friends that I love dearly, lots of them are from brunswick. The truth of the matter is that the downtown area of brunswick is mostly occupied by poverty stricken families, a large portion of those families are african americans. Unfortunately, places like these are breeding grounds for criminal activity. In my three years in brunswick I have witnessed many crimes. At the Glynn place mall, I saw a large group of african american teens instigating a fight, after it was broken up one of the kids came back to the mall with a gun. I also met a young black male in his early 20's at a party in my home, who robbed and murdered a pizza hut employee three days later. Another incident I witnessed was a rape, four black males on one white female. And also a very close friend of mine was walking down a road a few blocks away from where this baby was killed, and he was jumped by two black teens for his ipod and phone and left bleeding on the ground and although there were people around, no one tried to stop it. Crimes like the ones I just described happen in all cities and towns and are committed by all races, but in brunswick, it was almost always a crime committed by low-income black youths/adults, which has to do with the population ratio of african americans to whites, asians, spanish etc. My point is that I truly believe that this crime was committed by two black teens (apparently calls have been coming in confirming this). The mother admitted to being on pain killers which could make her memory foggy and her story seem off. I just hope for justice!
