PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. -- Parking at The Players Championship is one of the areas many agreed needed improvement.
Many of those attending say while there wasn't as much congestion this year, more changes still need to be made.
The general parking lot on Palm Valley Road was one the areas that saw the most traffic. On Friday officials were forced to temporarily close it down after reaching capacity.
Richard Bottini has attended TPC for the past six years, in the past, he says parking was frustrating.
"Getting out we had a tough time, in fact we got lost," said Bottini.
Bottini says, this year it was smooth sailing.
"They have more parking spaces, they have more cars parked by that grass that they didn't have last year," said Bottini.
But after thunder delayed play on the course yesterday, hundreds of people began pouring out of the parking lot creating a major traffic jam.
One couple tells Action News they waited an hour just to get out of the parking lot.
Today was another story.
"We came right on to Palm Valley Road and it was a smooth ride," said Ann Krall who was visiting for The Players.
While many agree the improvements were noticeable one visitor tells us there is still one thing missing.
"The shuttle service from outlying parking lots which seemed to be a good idea," said John Krall, visitor.
The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office says after TPC wraps up, they'll assess whether or not changes need to be made next year.
