PALATKA, Fla. -- Gov. Scott has approved pay raises for teachers in Putnam County.

The county is one of 52 districts statewide that have agreed to salary increases as part of the governor's $480 million pledge to reward teachers and thank them for their hard work in the classroom.

"A majority of Florida school districts have approved a well-deserved pay raise for our outstanding teachers," said Scott. "Working with the Legislature, we were proud to recognize the achievements of Florida students by awarding teachers for their work. We will continue to find ways to support Florida’s teachers, who are the backbone of our entire education system."

According to the governor's office, Baker, Clay, Duval, St. Johns, and Union counties all have approved raises for teachers.
