ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -- The pilot of a Mooney single-engine plane crash landed at Northeast Florida Regional Airport after failing to lower his landing gear.

The plane skidded across the runway, seriously damaging its propeller, according to witnesses.

The pilot was not injured. The plane is registered to Kelly Gordon of Gainesville.

The plane remained on the tarmac on Runway 13 for more than an hour.  Airport Director Ed Wullner said crews had to wait for FAA permission before removing the plane from the runway.
