BRUNSWICK, Ga. (AP) -- Police warrants say a teenager charged with fatally shooting a baby in the face in coastal Georgia had bullets in his pants pocket when he was arrested a day later.

The Brunswick News reports a search warrant filed Friday in Glynn County Magistrate Court says officers found two .22-caliber bullets in a pants pocket of 19-year-old De'Marquise Elkins when they arrested him March 22.

Elkins is charged with murder in the March 21 slaying of 13-month-old Antonio Santiago, who police say was shot in the face as Elkins an accomplice tried to rob the toddler's mother. Authorities also charged 15-year-old Dominique Lang in the slaying.

Police say they later recovered a .22-caliber pistol that Elkins' mother and sister dumped in a saltwater pond.

Both suspects have pleaded not guilty.

These crimes are mind-bogglingly brutal and inhumane. If a death sentence were carried out within a year or two after imposition, I would be in favor of sentencing these unfeeling killers to death. But that isn’t happening in Florida today. Now, it takes decades to administer a capital sentence. Moreover, it costs about $51M a year to administer death sentences, which is about $24M per execution. On the other hand, life without parole is much cheaper. I have better uses for $51M a year than to keep these dirt bags alive until the endless appeals end and the needle is inserted. So, as much as I would like to see them hanged in front a cheering mob, logic tells me its far less expensive (and hopefully more painful) to lock them away and forget them until their natural death or homicide.

A bullet would be too easy for this scum bag, he and the other little pile of trash who was with him deserves to dangle from a rope. Then the courts will most likely go easy on them because of their ages, which stinks, because kids or not they both should die for this crime.

They have both pled not guilty! They are both morons…But they are NOT insane! Life in prison is the minimum that they should receive!
