FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. -- A father visiting from Ohio is now facing child neglect charges in Florida.

Deputies say Dimitri Nicholas, 41, drove around drunk with his children in his car in Palm Coast.

The children, aged 9, 9, and 11, told deputies their father was drunk and had been acting funny all morning. They said their father was taking them to get something to eat when he started driving really slow. They decided to jump out of the car because they were afraid of his "driving habits" and had no idea where he was going.

The Flagler County Sheriff's Office says the 11-year-old boy cut his leg on the car door. The children walked to a neighbor's house for help.

Deputies caught up with Nicholas four hours later. He was walking down the street.  Authorities say he smelled of alcohol and had trouble walking. According to the report, Nicholas told deputies that his children were at home.
