LAKE CITY, Fla. -- A local father is in jail tonight after providing alcohol for teens.
Officers responded to 636 NW Palm Drive about 4:03 a.m. Sunday after getting a complaint about youths drinking in the street. Officers found Timmy Barfuss, 38, a 15-year-old, and two 17-year-olds standing around a truck in the front yard of the home. Barfuss attempted to casually get the beer cans from the teens and pour them out without getting the officers' attention.
Officers could smell alcohol on all three teens as they were talking to them, during which, the 15-year-old began throwing up. EMS responded for treatment and the teen was turned over to his mother.
During the on-scene investigation, recently consumed beer cans were found in the bed of the truck, the interior of the open truck and in the front yard of the house. Detectives learned Barfuss provided the alcohol to the teens. He was arrested for contributing to the delinquency of a minor and two of the juveniles were arrested for possession of alcohol by a minor and disorderly intoxication.
Lake City Police Chief Argatha Gilmore stated, "Our officers continue to enforce the law and are working with the Columbia County School Board in their awareness program of Think B4U Wink (at underage drinking).
