ORMOND BEACH, Fla. (WFTV) -- A drunken Ormond Beach man who had been kicked out of a bar broke into a department store through a rooftop air-conditioning conduit, authorities said Tuesday.

However, Eric Willard, 23, said he didn't remember very much about the escapades when he was arrested on burglary charges by the Volusia County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies said Willard was kicked out of Pecker's Pub near Ormond Beach after getting into a loud argument with his mother. The pair was escorted out of the bar, but they banged on the doors and attempted to get back inside, officers said. A deputy responded and gave them trespass warnings.

Willard then went to the Ormond Beach Mall on Ocean Shore Boulevard. Deputies said he walked up to the sliding glass doors of a closed Publix and tried prying them apart, without any luck. Officials said Willard then kicked and rammed shopping carts into the doors, but eventually gave up.

Deputies said Willard walked to the back of the building, and climbed to the roof of the neighboring Bealls Outlet. Willard then pried open an air-conditioning panel and crawled through a conduit, before falling through the ceiling into the store, officers said.

Authorities said Willard then exited through a rear door without taking anything.

Officials said they were able to find Willard because the deputy who had given him the trespass warning at the bar recognized the man shown in the stores' surveillance videos.

Willard was arrested and booked into the Volusia County Branch Jail in Daytona Beach.
