BRUNSWICK, Ga. -- A former Brunswick High School student is facing charges after he allegedly tried to sneak a gun into a basketball game.

The Glynn County School Police tell Action News that after they spotted 19-year-old Amhaud Arbery with the handgun Tuesday, he took off running.

A foot chase ensued and police say they were able to catch up with the suspect and arrest him a short time later.

So far, police do not know why Arbery brought the gun to school or his intentions.

He faces numerous charges, including carrying weapon on school property.

Police documents indicate Avery posted bond and is out of jail awaiting his next court appearance.
