LAKE CITY, Fla. -- Police in Lake City say a 13-year-old girl was walking to her grandmother's house in Lake City Sunday evening when a man forced her into his car and attempted to rape her.

Gerome L. Robinson, 18, asked the girl if she wanted to hang out. When she replied "no" Robinson then grabbed her and pushed her into his backyard. The suspect started to take off his clothes until he was nude and tried to do the same to the girl. She shoved him to the ground then ran away.

An officer with the police department located Robinson at his residence at 918 Cherry Lane and interviewed him. He told officers "the devil tried to rape her in my body."

Robinson was arrested and booked on a $55,000 bond.

First he forced her onto his car, then it says he forced her into his back yard. Which is it? Either way, this guy appears to be under the influence of something. Saying the "devil made him" is a look at someone with a psychotic mind. Michelle~It is a worry to keep our children safe from the harm some want to do to them. Parenting is the most exhausting thing any person takes on in life. While I know it is not possible to be with the children 24/7, the adjustments one makes to provide security for them should be a priority in this time we live in. Surely this little girl probably walked to Grandma's house on many occasions, but it was this one time that she was harmed. Personally I would have never allowed my child to walk alone anywhere. Nor did I as well as with any child(ren) I was responsible for. Again this is this is why it is exhausting to care for children. Not hoover, but keeping a line of sight on their physical location. School being the exception. I pray for this little girl.

The most frightening thing a parent worries about is losing their child, or having he or she taken away by a stranger. I'm a bit worried about the safety of my kids lately. We heard news about this kind of incident and I can't help myself to worry. Having kids myself I find worrying about their safety from time to time. However, I stumbled upon this blog the other day which tells how a mother overcame a tragedy and found an amazing way to keep her kids safe.
