OVIEDO, Fla. (WFTV) -- Police have released a composite sketch of a man who they said possibly tried to abduct a 7-year-old girl in Oviedo Friday afternoon.
The girl and her older brother were riding their bikes home from Lawton Elementary School when a man parked in a vacant lot stopped them, according to police.
According to investigators, the man had the trunk of his sedan open and asked the girl if she would put her bike in his trunk. The suspect placed his hand on the handlebars of the girl's bicycle during the incident, police said.
The man, described as a white male with white hair, mustache and goatee in his late 50s or 60s, was parked in the vacant lot on the northwest corner of North Lake Jessup Avenue and King Street.
The two children rode off to their house and told an adult what happened. The adult took one of the bikes and rode toward the vacant lot. As he approached the lot, he saw the suspect's car headed toward him, police said.
Authorities said the suspect possibly knew he was coming for him because he turned his car around in the opposite direction.
The suspect was last seen driving north on Lake Jessup Avenue. Police said they searched the area but could not find the man.
A composite sketch of the man and a picture of the type of car he was possibly driving was released.
