GLYNN COUNTY, Ga. -- A Georgia man has been arrested after police say he accidentally shot a woman while firing at squirrels.

On Sunday, Edward Johnson called 911 and told dispatch he was shooting at squirrels at the Ocean Forest Golf Club when he accidentally shot someone.

The victim, 70-year-old Jane Prendergast, was hit in the stomach while standing near the course's 5th hole. She had been shot with a .22 caliber rifle.

Johnson is charged with one count of Reckless Conduct. This case is still under investigation.

Prendergast is hospitalized at UF & Shands Hospital in Jacksonville.

I 'cut my teeth' on a 22 rifle and got pretty darn good, but everyone knows shooting at squirrels is like trying to catch a greased pig in sloppy pigpen. HITTING A SQUIRREL ALMOST NEVER HAPPENS...and just as in this case, no one can predict where the bullets end up. Why would anyone want to shoot a squirrel for anyway? I lived near this Golf course for years, what an idiot. I Pray this Lady has a full recovery, though at her age, it may be very hard going, I hope not.
