Police: Missing woman faked kidnapping
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said 20-year-old Shannon Nicole Campbell faked her own disappearance.
According to JSO, Campbell faked her kidnapping so her mother would give her money.
Police said her family reported getting mysterious text messages from Campbell's phone. The messages said Campbell was being held by a person who she owed money for drugs. The messages demanded the family send a $2,000 money order for her release.
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office says the messages appeared to say Campbell was in danger saying, "I can't leave, save me," and "I can't go anywhere until I have something to offer."
Campbell was found safe early Monday morning. Police say she admitted to lying about being kidnapped and held against her will.
Campbell is charged with filing a false police report.
