Police: SWAT standoff over in Northwest Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A SWAT standoff at a home in Northwest Jacksonville is now over. Police say no one was home.

Shots fired in a Northwest Jacksonville neighborhood prompted SWAT officers to block off several streets earlier today.

But now police are saying no one was in the home and they think the suspect might have escaped out a back door of the Almeda Street residence.

Police have a warrant for Deandes Young, 36, of Jacksonville He is wanted for aggravated assault and shooting into an occupied vehicle Witness say they saw Young go in.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office says its officers responded to a shooting near the intersection of 1st and Canal streets about 4 p.m They believe someone fired shots from the front yard of a nearby house at a moving car.

Witnesses tell investigators the suspect ran into a nearby home. Police did not say if the suspect resides in that house, but they do not believe anyone else is inside.

No one was hit by the gunfire.
