JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The man who told police he shot an intruder at his home is now under arrest.

Police say Donald Palmer, 23, fatally shot Austin Stuart Glendenning at a home on Cypress Landing Drive.

Police say Glendenning and a third man, 21-year-old Cameron Smith, went to Palmer's house to rob him because he owed them something.

Palmer fired 2 shots, killing Glendenning who had a pipe and pepper spray, according to police.

Smith stayed outside during the shooting but he faces a murder charge because of Glendenning's death during a felony crime.

Investigators found large amounts of marijuana inside Palmer's house.  Palmer faces charges of armed possession of marijuana and alteration of a serial number on a gun.

I believe the police were correct in their arrest and giving them kodo's. It is also good to know the defendant will be charged with murder ... from what I understand through reading this report. We need to protect ourselves and our property and I believe in stand your ground law... but it doesn't reach out to the ones who break the law.

I still don't have a problem with him defending himself from a pipe and pepper spray in his own house but the incident apparently being drug related works to get three criminals off the streets. Good police work.

The man was at danger... he could have been potentially killed and they want to arrest him?! Shame on JSO....This is a real 'Stand Your Ground' law.... IJS

Well well well...I retract that garbage I said about thugs trying to break into 'good honest hard working' people's homes....seems this guy was selling dope.

How about that!!! More to the story then initially thought! Not necessarily an intruder after all! I guess I, for one, jumped the gun (no pun intended) in congratulating the homeowner!
