JACKSONVILLE BEACH , Fla. -- A man from Texas died in the Never Quit Never challenge at Jacksonville Beach this weekend.

Authorities identified the victim as 43-year-old Sydney L. Graham from Houston.

Jacksonville Beach police, lifeguards and fire rescue personnel responded to a call of a person in distress in the water near the Beach Boulevard end zone.  Graham was unconscious when pulled from the water.

He was taken to Baptist Beaches Medical Center where efforts to revive him were unsuccessful.

The cause of death has yet to be determined, according to Jacksonville Beach Police spokesman Sgt. Tommy Crumley.
