JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Police have identified the man and woman killed in an early morning New Year's Day crash on the Southside.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office says driver Pamala Mancillas and passenger Timothy Brian Walsh were traveling eastbound on Atlantic Boulevard just 28 minutes after midnight. They died after Dodge Magnum crossed their path.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is still investigating and has not yet determined if alcohol was a factor in the crash.

Mancillas and Walsh were on Atlantic when the Magnum, which was exiting a shopping center, pulled out in front of them.

"The station wagon struck the left side of the SUV, flipped several times and came to rest on the occupant's side," said Detective J.C. Hurst of the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Mancillas and Walsh were pronounced dead at the scene.

"It skidded on the median, passed the median and now it's going the opposite direction. I almost touched it. The SUV flipped three or four times," said Ranze Nazare, a witness.

It took crews seven hours to clear the scene.

The driver of the Dodge Magnum was taken to Shands Jacksonville with minor injuries. It has not been determined if the driver will face any charges.
