Police identify woman found dead in street

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Police are investigating a woman's death on the Westside.

A woman's body was found at the intersection of Broadway Avenue and Baker Avenue at 5 a.m. Police say a JTA bus driver reported the woman's body after seeing her lying on the road.

The woman's been identified as 42-year-old Traci Wright.  A JSO spokeswoman says her death is under investigation as a homicide.

Lt. Rob Schoonover with JSO says the woman suffered trauma to her head. Neighbors reported hearing gunshots in the area around 2 a.m., but detectives can't say if the victim was shot. They are waiting on the medical examiner's report.
