JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Police are currently looking for a masked man that attempted to rob a convenience store on Atlantic Boulevard.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office was called to the Exxon Gas station at 12743 Atlantic Blvd., near Girvin Road, early Wednesday morning.

According to witnesses, the armed man entered the store with what appeared to be a machine gun and demanded money.

The employee was able to hide in the cash register booth, which forced the suspect to flee the store empty-handed.

The robber was wearing a gray ski mask and a gray long sleeve shirt.

If you have any information regarding the identity of the robber, call Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.  You will remain anonymous and could receive a cash reward if your tip leads to an arrest.

Not too many of them? Couple years back every gun store was selling these GSG-5s like hot cakes! I've got one and many folks I know have one ... or two! Fun to shoot .22 semi-auto just not enough magazine capacity at 24 rounds.

My guess is this is NOT a machine gun. It's an H&K .22 caliber semiauto that is made to look like the 9mm MP-5. Not too many out there I would imagine so start at Gander Mountain, etc.
