ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. -- Detectives need the public's help in finding the suspect who broke into a Vilano Beach home October 29.

The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office was called to the 500 block of 23rd Street the morning of October 29th after a homeowner reported a robbery.

The 63-year-old victim told police that he was leaving for work when he was confronted by an unknown man in his garage. The armed suspect ordered the victim back into his house and demanded money. The suspect then stole the victim's car and ditched it a short way from the victim's house.

The victim was shot during the robbery and was transported to UF & Shands Jacksonville hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect was described as 5'8"-5'10" tall with a thin build. At the time of the robbery, the suspect was wearing all black clothing and had his face covered. It is believed that the suspect could have ties to North Jacksonville.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective David Garns at the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office at (904) 209-3982.
