Police shoot armed man at Children's Hospital
MILWAUKEE, Wisc. -- Milwaukee police shot an armed 22-year-old man at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin while trying to serve a felony warrant around 11:57 a.m.
According to Milwaukee County Sheriff David A. Clarke, Milwaukee police officers tried to serve a felony warrant on a suspect who was on the hospital's seventh floor in the neo-natal unit. We're told the warrant was for felony possession of a firearm.
Sheriff Clarke says the suspect was holding a baby when MPD officers found the suspect. He was notified he was being arrested. The suspect put down the baby, and gave the impression he'd be cooperative.
The suspect then ran away from the officers, Sheriff Clarke would not confirm if shots were fired by the suspect. Milwaukee police officers shot and wounded the man inside the hospital.
The suspect has not been killed, and is being treated at Froedtert Hospital.
Children's Hospital of Wisconsin released a statement:
Children's Hospital of Wisconsin went into lockdown while law enforcement responded to a report of shots fired today at approximately 11:55 a.m. The situation has been contained. The hospital building itself remains locked down until law enforcement issues a complete all-clear.
