Police shooting suspect facing 6 counts of attempted murder
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A burglary suspect accused of shooting a police officer at a local pawn shop is facing six counts of attempted murder.
Police arrested Edward Garvin, his wife Sherry, and their adult daughter Teal after a shooting at the Big Cash Pawn shop on Beach Boulevard Wednesday afternoon.
Investigators say the suspected family of burglars has tried to pawn more than 90 items at area pawn shops over the last month.
Police caught up with the family at Big Cash Pawn on Wednesday. When officers moved in to arrest the family, there was a struggle.
Police said Garvin had a 9 mm handgun in his pants. It fired during the struggle. The bullet ricocheted off the floor and struck the officer's forearm.
The officer suffered minor injuries.
Garvin's wife and daughter appeared in court Thursday morning. He is due in court this afternoon.
