JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A burglary suspect accused of shooting a police officer at a local pawn shop is facing six counts of attempted murder.

Police arrested Edward Garvin, his wife Sherry, and their adult daughter Teal after a shooting at the Big Cash Pawn shop on Beach Boulevard Wednesday afternoon.

Investigators say the suspected family of burglars has tried to pawn more than 90 items at area pawn shops over the last month.

Police caught up with the family at Big Cash Pawn on Wednesday.  When officers moved in to arrest the family, there was a struggle.

Police said Garvin had a 9 mm handgun in his pants.  It fired during the struggle.  The bullet ricocheted off the floor and struck the officer's forearm.

The officer suffered minor injuries.

Garvin's wife and daughter appeared in court Thursday morning.  He is due in court this afternoon.

Story originally stated the gun fell during a struggle then discharged. Now that has been changed. Corey still needs to face ethics violations, as lawyer, for withholding the information she found out about Martin's criminal activities. Which was uncovered while trying to go after Zimmerman. That woman will do anything to get conviction for political reasons and not truth, justice, or honor. If this guy did grab his gun after confronted by a police officer then I could see attempted murder charges. If he simply fought back with his hands ,and the gun dropped there is no way in the world he should be charged with attempted murder.

If this POS tried to pull the gun out and it discharged then the attempted murder charges should stand. If the gun was accidently dropped by him or the officer arresting him then it is another trumped up charge by Angela Corey’s office. We all know how she likes to grand stand and do questionable things like firing someone who was under oath to tell the truth about her office withholding critical evidence in the George Zimmerman trial.

Quote from Wikipedia about definitions since some people think trumping up charges is good idea: Murder is the unlawful killing, with malice aforethought, of another human, and generally this premeditated state of mind distinguishes murder from other forms of unlawful homicide (such as manslaughter). Assault :At Common Law, an intentional act by one person that creates an apprehension in another of an imminent harmful or offensive contact. Tell me again how a guy going into pawn shop to sell stolen goods is intending murder? It's insane to charge him with attempted murder.

Realchange, if there were six people in the pawn shop when he discharged the firearm he theoretically could have killed anyone of them. That could be the six counts.

How is damn gun going off accidently 6 counts of attempted murder? Granted the guy is thief and crook but if this story is right and he didn't pull the gun out then its not attempted murder or even assault with a deadly weapon. Talk about police state out control maybe next time say hello to an officer someone will get charged with obstructing justice.
