Police shut down drug hubs in Gainesville
Gainesville, Fla. -- Law enforcement agencies in Alachua County swarmed what they say were several drug hubs last week in and around Gainesville.
The Gainesville Police Department reports that illegal drugs were seized at four different locations.
Gainesville Police Chief Tony Jones credited the initial tipster with coming forward to start the investigation. "A single report can make a difference," said Jones. "This lengthy investigation was the result of a single citizen contacting the police to report criminal activity."
No on-scene arrests were made, but multiple people could face charges as a result of the investigation.
GPD spokesman Officer Ben Tobias praised the work of law enforcement officers. "These men and women work very hard to keep drugs off the streets of Alachua County and out of your neighborhoods. Most of their work is done outside of public view, but I'm proud to be able to share their work with you today."
Multiple residents reportedly thanked officers at the scene for helping them clean up their neighborhood from illegal drug activity.
