Ponte Vedra Beach restaurant to be closed two weeks after fire
PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. -- Fire marshalls are investigating the cause of a kitchen fire that shut down operations at Restaurant Medure in Ponte Vedra Beach on Wednesday.
The owner tells Action News his staff noticed a glow behind one of the walls in the kitchen, and immediately called the St. Johns County Fire Rescue Department.
The restaurant had a full house, but was able to evacuate all customers.
Investigators say the fire was contained to a small area within the kitchen, and early investigations lead them to believe the cause is electrical.
A fire department supervisor says damage is minimal, but it will likely be two weeks before operations will resume. Staff is preparing to call customers with reservations to notify them of any possible cancellations.
