JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Jacksonville's youngest murder suspect was in court this morning.

New attorneys want to take over Cristian Fernandez's case.

The presiding judge has to decide whether to allow or deny the motion.

She didn't make the ruling in court Tuesday, but plans to make one Wednesday at 9 a.m.

The attorneys believe substituting council will delay the trial.

Cristian was charged with murder in the death of his younger brother.

His mother should be the one up on murder and neglect charges.

The state won't have any say once the prison system is privatized. The money always speaks louder.

nativejax, why turn him loose so he can molest or kill someone else? If he is tried and convicted, the state has policies in place about where he could be housed, and those rules whould prevent him from being housed with those hardened criminals you are talking about.

Christian has said that he does not want to change and would rather stay with the public defender. The court appointed guardian says that it is in his best interest to change lawyers and she is probably right. It makes you wonder though, if the court orders the change against his wishes they are in effect saying Chistian is not capable of acting as an adult. If he is not capable of acting as an adult, what the heck is he doing in the adult court system? I'm sorry but you can't have it both ways. Either treat him as an adult or as the child that he is.

If this Judge has an ounce of Christianity or comppasion left in her after years of turning loose 'GOOD FOR NOTHING REPEAT ADULT OFFENDERS' for years, she will grant this child a chance at some defense that is 'age appropiate'. He was an abused child in every sense of the word, why further the abuse by throwing him to the filthy rapist's in prison?
