BRADFORD COUNTY, Fla. -- The Florida Department of Health is advising private well owners affected by floodwaters to take precautions to assure water is safe to use.

The DOH says affected homeowners should disinfect your well by using specific instructions found on their website or by following procedures provided by the Bradford or Union County Health Departments.

For more information, contact the Bradford or Union County Health Departments at:  904-964-7732 or 386- 496-3211 or visit or www.FloridaDisaster.org.

Water testing kits are available at several local county health departments for around $20.
