Prescribed burn set in Clay County

CLAY COUNTY, Fla. -- A prescribed fire will take place at the Bayard Conservation area in Clay County Wednesday. 

The St. Johns River Water Management District is conducting the 73-acre prescribed burn south of Bayard Road. 

This will help lower dangerous fuels, said Public Communications Coordinator Teresa Monson. 

The burn is also going to improve the environment, Monson said.


Florida Forest Service is conducting the following prescribed burns in our area: 

1. Baker County: 227-acre burn at John Bethea State Forest. This is south of State Road 2 and east of Eddy Grade; plus, a 100-acre prescribed burn at John Bethea State Forest. This is south of State Road 2 and east of Baxter Grade. 

2. Clay County: 100-acre prescribed burn at Belmore State Forest. This is on County Road 215 near Juniper Avenue; plus, a 155-acre burn at Jennings State Forest. This is on Live Oak Lane at Bell Cemetery Road. 

3. Duval County: 60-acre burn at Cecil Commerce Center. This is located on Normandy Boulevard at Nathan Hale Road. 

4. Nassau County: 80-acre burn at Four Creeks State Forest. This is on Catface Swamp Road and south of Pacetti Road; plus, a 133-acre burn at Four Creeks State Forest on State Road 200 and Four Creeks Road; plus, a 100-acre burn at Cary State Forest Thomas Creek Tract. This is two miles east of U.S. 301 and south of Meadows Lane. 

5. Putnam County: 74-acre burn at Etoniah Creek State Forest. This is located on Manning Road at Bardin Road. 


U.S. Forest Service is conducting the following burn in our area:

1. Columbia County: 800-acre burn at Osceola National Forest. This is more than six miles east of U.S. 441, which is south of the GA line. 


Camp Blanding is conducting the following burn in our area: 

1. Clay County: 53-acre burn off Avenue B and south of Kingsley Lake. 


The St. Johns River Water Management District is conducting the following burns in our area: 

1. Clay County: 73-acre burn that's 3/4 of a mile west of the St Johns River and .5 miles east of County Road 209. 

2. Putnam County: 169-acre burn at Lake George Conservation Area. This is south of Georgetown Denver Road. 


The University of Florida is conducting the following burn in our area: 

1. Putnam County: 44-acre burn that is east of Deep Lake Trail. It's also south of Deep Lake Road. 


The Florida Park Service is conducting the following burn in our area: 

1. St. Johns County: 60-acre burn at Faver Dykes State Park. This is north of Pellicer Creek. 


The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is conducting the following burn in our area: 

1. St. Johns County: 37-acre burn at Guana River Wildlife Management Area. This is on County Road 210 and North Road. 


Two private landowners are conducting the following burns in our area: 

1. Flagler County: 75-acre burn that's west of Old Dixie Highway. This is two miles east of Highway 17. 

2. Baker County: 50-acre burn that is one mile southwest of Chet Harvey and County Road 229 South.
