Prosecutors: Couple received $800K from fraudulently filed tax returns
BRUNSWICK, Ga. -- A couple from Brunswick are going to prison on identity theft and fraud charges.
A judge sentenced Estella Wright to four years in prison following her conviction on seven counts of aggravated identity theft, and her husband Dorian to 15 months in prison for their roles in a tax refund scheme.
Federal prosecutors say Estella Wright stole the means of identification from people through her job at a temporary staffing agency. Investigators say she gave the information to her co-conspirators to fraudulently file tax returns. Prosecutors say the couple received more than $800,000 from fraudulently filed tax returns.
