JACKSONVILLE, Fla.-- It's T-40 days until the general election-- meaning pollers and voters alike are busy.

This year, the concern is provisional ballots. In Duval County alone, between 8 and 10,000 are expected.

"What a provisional ballot does is put your ballot in limbo, meaning that you haven't not cast a ballot, but you've cast one and put it in an envelope for the canvassing board to decide the outcome of it," Jerry Holland said.

Holland, Supervisor of Elections for Duval County, says provisional ballots can play a big role in a close election. Verifying info can take days...which ultimately means a delay in results.

As we all remember in the 2000 presidential controversy...every single vote counts.

"You can see where a post election excitement can be just as exciting as election night," Holland continued.

Brooke Howard updated her voter address today. She just moved from Leon County, and with everything at stake...she didn't want to take any chances.

"I literally called before I came here. Asked as many questions as possible," she said.

Voters cast provisional ballots for a number of reasons...inlcluding not having proper ID at the polls, trying to vote at the wrong precint or failing to update registration after moving.

With all eyes on the Sunshine State, and a battle for the top spot...Holland says it's important everying runs smoothly.

"Now with Florida with 29 electoral votes, we're right there...3rd/4th largest state. It's very important Florida comes out for both candidates."

Voters cast nearly 2.1 million provisional ballots in the 2008 presidential election. According to election results compiled by the Associated Press, about 69-percent were eventually counted..

Is this another way of saying that you are going to cheat for Obama??? Why didn't President Obama tell those who are committing the violence in the Middle East to stop "clinging to their guns and religion"? If voting for Obama is not the equivalent of giving a F student the perfect attendance award, I don’t know what is.
