HOLLISTER, Fla. -- The Putnam County Sheriff's Office and Putnam County Fire Rescue responded to an active meth lab at 292 Old Woods Road in Hollister today.

Someone called the sheriff's office after finding the active lab in the stove at a relative's home. When deputies arrived, they determined that the lab was active and very volatile.

The area was evacuated, and the specially equipped and trained Meth Lab Response Unit was called in. The unit deactivated the lab. The lab was rendered safe and there were no injuries.

The Code Enforcement office then inspected the home and it was condemned. The resident was not home at the time, but was later found by deputies. No charges have been filed at this time and the investigation is ongoing.

The Florida Department of Children and Families was contacted after deputies learned that a child lives in the home. The child was not in the home at the time.
