JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A plane crash has rattled the quiet community of Sutton Lakes. Dozens of neighbors said they heard the crash that was loud enough to vibrate their homes.
Stephen Meckes was still shaken Sunday night after a plane crashed near his home.
"It's kind if frightening and I'm still shaking," said Meckes.
Meckes lives in the Sutton Lakes neighborhood where a plane crashed Sunday, killing at least 3 people.
"It sounded like a plane was going up in the air and after that a loud thud," said Meckes.
"It was really loud. It was loud enough to vibrate your "walls," said Michael Jones.
Jones said he and his family were in the inside their house when the crash occurred at about 6:30 p.m.
He said everyone came outside wondering what could've made the noise.
"I was pretty surprised to see that it happened," Jones said. "A plane going down in a neighborhood, how often do you hear something like that?"
Jones said even with Craig Airport just up the road, he never thought a plane would come crashing down in his community.
He said he's thankful his family and neighbors are safe "and it didn't hit a house," said Jones.
The crash is still under investigation.
