JACKSONVILLE Fla.-- If you're looking for a good parking spot at RV City this year, it may already be too late. More than 60 RVs lined up downtown Sunday evening, all the way to the Hart Bridge on ramp. This year's celebration is off to an early start.
Everybody loves the healthy competition that comes with the Georgia-Florida game, but just under a week before kick off, it's not just about which team comes out on top, it's also about who gets the top parking spot.
Campers tell Action News the tailgate has gotten earlier and earlier each year, this year being the earliest they've ever seen.
Chris Chaney was first in line this year. The Georgia fan and Jacksonville native says he set up shop last week.
"I had to come Thursday night at 7:30," he said. "The road was just getting paved so I was waiting till the road got finished and got here before anybody!"
Chaney got a brand new camper just for the occasion, which he was proud to show off to Action News.
"That's the Chaney's dog pound it what we call our RV," he said.
While some love the tailgate's early kick off, giving them more time for fun, others say it's becoming an inconvenience, forcing them to plan further ahead.
"Next year I'm going to come on Wednesday so I can be number one in line," said Teresa Mangion.
But for Chaney, he's just happy he's got the top spot. Even if he's not quite sure what that means.
"I don't know i'm still trying to figure that one out," he said. "At least I have bragging rights."
RVs will still be filing in all week. Campers tell Action News they expect the biggest crowd on Wednesday.
