JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Excessive rain from Tropical Storm Debby has caused the Florida Forest Service to close all five Jacksonville District state forests.

The FFS land managers closed all the Jacksonville District's state forests Tuesday due to excessive rain.

They include, Cary, Four Creeks and Ralph E. Simmons Memorial Forest in Nassau County, and Belmore and Jennings State Forests in Clay County.

Hazardous road conditions brought on by the rain have caused the closures and are expected through the weekend.

The FFS will reassess the road conditions on Friday to determine if it will be safe to allow public access over the weekend.

If you have any questions you are asked to call the Florida Forest Service at (904) 266-5002.
