JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Volunteers from the Jacksonville area are headed to the Northeast to lend a helping hand. The local Red Cross will send its Emergency Response Vehicle to New Jersey Tuesday morning.

Almost 100 Red Cross emergency vehicles across the country are heading to help those affected by Sandy.  They will hand out ready-to-eat meals and relief supplies like blankets and cots.

Also, more than 500 workers from Florida Power and Light are on their way to the Northeast. And JEA is also sending crews of their own, more than 30 people are already in Maryland.

A disaster for many but nothing but another fund raising opportunity for the Red Cross. Need to cover those six figure salaries for the Directors and the half million for the CEO.
