JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- City Council just approved a resolution to allow the city to conduct a study into the consolidation and relocation of the Supervisor of Elections office.

16 council members voted in favor of the resolution. Richard Clark is the only one who voted against it.

The "sax" property at 816 Union St. is being scouted as a possible new location to construct a new building at.

Jerry Holland, Supervisor of Elections, says the move could save the city millions of dollars.

But the Mayor's Chief of Staff, Chris Hand tells Action News, they question the need to spend millions in taxpayers dollars to build an entirely new building on the Union Street property.

Once the study is completed, it will go back to the City Council for further action.
