PALM COAST, Fla. -- An apparent argument over rent resulted in the death of a 76-year-old man this week, according to the Flagler County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies were making a welfare check Saturday when they eventually found the body of Leonard Lynn, 76.
Upon further investigation, deputies determined that Eric Niemi, 42, had been renting a room from Leonard Lynn and could be a suspect.
Niemi was eventually found with Lynn's vehicle and confessed to killing his landlord, detectives say.
Niemi has been charged with second-degree murder and one count of grand theft auto.
He is awaiting his next court appearance in the Flagler County Detention Facility.
The Medical Examiner ruled Lynn's death was a result of blunt force trauma.
"This was a tragic and senseless death. Hopefully the quick resolution of this case will allow Mr. Lynn's family to start the healing process," said Sheriff James L. Manfre.
