JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- While President Obama won a second term as president, it was his opponent, Mitt Romney, who won over Duval County voters, by a very tight margin.
"They always seem to be pretty tight," said Jacksonville voter Kevin Martin.
Fewer than 15,000 votes separated the two candidates here, proving that Jacksonville is still a Republican stronghold.
However, that's changing, if you ask Democratic Party Chairman Travis Bridges. He said, "We're still a very deep purple. We're not blue yet. But we certainly will be working on that."
Bottom line, it boiled down to voters going to the polls, campaigns encouraging their supporters to cast their ballots. And while Romney may have won Jacksonville, it takes more than one county to win a presidency.
The same thing happened in 2008. Republican John McCain edged out Barack Obama in Duval County, by less than 2 percent.
