Residents urged to take precautions along Satilla River
BRANTLEY COUNTY, Ga. -- Residents along the Satilla River near Atkinson are being urged by emergency management to take precautions before the river overflows its banks.
The Satilla River at Atkinson is nearing flood stage at 13 feet.
The river is expected to approach 15 feet by Friday.
Emergency management says that residents who live in low-lying areas on the river and adjacent to the river need to prepare for flooding.
According to historical flood data, when the river reaches 14 feet River Rock Road begins to experience flooding.
