Jacksonville, FLA. - The Barnyard Family Restaurant formerly known as the Barnyard Junction is located on Highway 27 in Fort White. The state health inspector recently responded to a complaint at the restaurant and found 26 violations. 10 of the violations were 'high priority' which means they could make you sick.
Here's what we found in the report...
Jelly being prepared in a private home
Chicken, beef, pork, ham, eggs, potato salad, macaroni salad and cottage cheese held at hazardous temperatures
The self service buffet and salad bar didn't have an adequate sneeze-guardOwner, Stuart Strickland says, "O
ne of our customers brought us a jar of homemade jelly. It was in the cooler but we were not serving it. The temperature issues were because our salad bar went into defrost mode during the lunch rush and we do have an adequate sneeze guard in place. This is not normal practice for us. We try to run an extremely clean restaurant and we don't have anything to hide. It was a lot of small circumstances added up. We were inspected three weeks ago and were spotless. We only had one violation."We did some checking and Strickland is right. On April 10th only one basic violation was found by the health inspector.Woody's Bar-B-Q on 6th street in Macclenny and The Huddle House Restaurant on Highway 441 in Lake City
rounded out the top of the list for the restaurants with the most number of critical violations.
