JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Jay Asian Taste is located on Bowden Road in Jacksonville. An emergency order was recently issued at the restaurant. It was temporarily closed down for some serious health violations. The state health inspector found dead roaches, live roaches and rodent activity including fresh droppings.
We were invited back into the kitchen by Ivy, the manager, who told us she just took over the restaurant about one month ago. While we were talking with Ivy we noticed roaches all over the floor and several coming out from under the walk in cooler.
Ivy told us the pest control company came and sprayed right after they were closed down but she told us it was obvious they needed to come out again. She called the company while we were there and asked them to come spray right away.
Ivy told us her walk-in cooler is old and she's working on some other issues at the restaurant. She is asking her customers to give her some time to get everything in order but she promises they do clean every day.
Here are the other restaurants at the top of the high priority list this week:
Tomo Japanese Restaurant on Penman Road in Jacksonville Beach had eight high priority violations including the sushi chef who didn't wash his hands before putting on gloves to work with food.
At The Sheik #4 on 103rd Street in Jacksonville there were seven high priority violations including an order to stop using equipment and utensils until they are correctly cleaned - they weren't being sanitized. click here
