Jacksonville, FLA. - The San Marco Deli is located on San Marco Boulevard in the heart of the hustle and bustle. A woman at the counter told us she couldn't talk to us or show us inside the kitchen but she did give us the owners card so we could call her.

We wanted to ask about 22 violations, 9 of them high priority including these found in the recent state health inspection report:

Cooked potatoes, cheese and cold cuts - all thrown out for temperature abuse - Stop sale issued
Raw sausage in the same container as cooked ham
Employees not washing hands before touching food and an employee who switched from working with raw food to ready to eat food without washing their hands
Live flying insects in the food prep area

San Marco Deli owner Karen Winn issued this statement about the report:

"On the return visit by the health department on Tuesday everything came back in compliance. We are concerned about these issues and the safety of customers food and we are now in compliance with the health department."

Lee's Dragon on Baymeadows Road in Jacksonville and Stan's Sandwich & Grill on Hendricks Avenue in Jacksonville
rounded out the top three restaurants with the most number of high priority violations this week.

Congratulations to the following restaurants - they had zero health violations and get our clean plate award of the week!

Julington Creek Plantation Club
The Red Dog Wagon: Beach Blvd
Delta Sky Club
Vistakon Break Room
State Farm Insurance Cafeteria
Subway #3970 - Old Kings Road
Crystol's Exquisite Catering
