Jacksonville, FLA. - The King and The Bear Restaurant is located on King and Bear Drive in Saint Augustine. This week the state health inspector issued an emergency and temporarily closed down the restaurant. Here's what we uncovered in the latest inspection report.
Six high priority violations:
Dead roaches were found in the cook line equipment
Live roaches were seen in the fan of a drawer cooler on the cook line
There were several issues with the temperature of food, mainly chicken
Jim Hahn, General Manager of The King & The Bear sent us this statement about the violations:
"The recent after-hours inspection, by the Florida division of hotels and restaurants, has brought to light some maintenance issues in the clubhouse kitchen at The King & Bear, which were not in compliance with our company standards. All the issues were immediately addressed that evening and resolved within a few hours. The dining facility opened the following morning. Furthermore, we have implemented additional procedures as preventative measures to ensure this does not happen again."
