Jacksonville, FLA. - Wing It NY is located on Old Saint Augustine Road in Jacksonville. The restaurant was recently closed down temporarily because the health inspector issued an emergency. Owners Dave and Charlene opened the restaurant in 1997. Dave told us this is the first time they've ever been closed down. We confirmed that information with the state.

Dave says, "We were closed for three hours on Monday... we opened on Tuesday."

Dave offered to take us back into the kitchen where the inspector found 8 high priority violations including dead roaches, small flying insects, live roaches, butter stored on the floor and wing sauce that was supposed to be at a temperature of 41 degrees was at 75.

Dave says he's employed a company to test his secret wing sauce recipe to see if it's safe to be stored at room temperature. Until then, he says he's complying with state standards and using a butter substitute that doesn't have to be refrigerated.

Dave wants his customers to know the sauce is safe, the roaches are gone and every violation has been taken care of.

He says, "We've been here forever and we take full responsibility... my wife and I are ashamed we're in this position."

Other restaurants at the top of the high priority list this week include:

At Waffle House on 103rd Street in Jacksonville there were six high priority violations including a dirty screw that fell into the ice. It was thrown out by an employee.

At Ellen's Kitchen on South Third Street in Jacksonville Beach there were five high priority violations including expired food items that had to be thrown out. A stop sale was issued on egg whites, turkey, diced ham and other food items.

The following restaurants had zero violations and earn our clean plate award:

Cedar House Inn: Saint Augustine
At Journey's Inn B&B: Saint Augustine
Ellisville Speedway Pit: Howell Road
UPS: Imeson Road, Jax
