Jacksonville, Fla. - Takeria Mix is located on Powers Avenue almost to the intersection of Toledo in Jacksonville.
It's a Honduran restaurant that has been open for seven years. The manager, Julisa, says her family owns the business. She seemed surprised we were there to ask her about the recent state health inspection. She says, "The employees always wash their hands in the sink."
Takeria Mix had 18 critical violations including an employee making food without washing their hands, the handwash sink was not accessible because it was blocked by a fan and that sink was also being used as a dump sink. You can see the full
report here.
Julisa assured us the sink is always open for employees to wash their hands... but when we walked in the kitchen we saw the fan sitting right in front of the employee handwash sink. Julisa apologized and moved the fan to show us the sink was clean and was not being used as a dump sink. Overall - the kitchen looked clean.
Julisa had this to say to her customers, "They are welcome to come... we always try to serve the best."
Here are the other restaurants at the top of the list this week for critical violations.
