PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. -- A popular restaurant at the beach will be closed much longer than previously thought.

Action News spoke with Matthew Medure, the owner of Restaurant Medure, who says an electrical outlet in the kitchen caught fire.

Medure says he did a walk-through with contractors and the insurance company to get a permit to start rebuilding.

The damage is so extensive, however, that the restaurant may have to stay closed through January.

The owner told Action News that this is his busiest time of year, with a full book of holiday reservations at Medure. The owner is encouraging guests to book reservations at Matthew's instead.

Medure says he's trying to keep his employees on staff.
