JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Motorcycle riders started their engines Saturday in honor of Cherish Perrywinkle.

The Ride for Justice, an annual fundraiser for the Justice Coalition, was dedicated to the young murder victim.

Hundreds, including several law enforcement officers, participated in the 50-mile ride through Jacksonville and over several bridges.

The ride took place exactly one week after police found the body of 8-year-old Cherish.

The little girl was kidnapped from a Walmart on Lem Turner last week. Police found her body the next morning near a church on Broward Road. Registered sex offender Donald Smith is charged with her kidnapping and murder.

I was going to participate in this ride solely on the basis of this child suffering a horrendous death. After thinking about it, I decided not to simply because of the actions of the mother. I have NEVER let my child out of my sight while we were in a public place. I would NEVER let my child wonder off with a total stranger just because he was going to purchase some articles of clothing. This woman should be arrested and prosecuted to the fullest extent because ultimately, SHE was the reason that animal had the opportunity to murder this kid. The father should sue the piss out of whoever was involved with his custody battle. He may not have been Dad of the year but, at least he was trying to do the right thing by his child.

I think this was a great thing to do !! Motorcycle riders are given a bad rap, but as you can see they come together when needed! They have more feelings than a lot of people I know, and I hope the next time you see a rider--wave at them!Thank you for ALL YOU DO for people and the community.
