Every time the economy starts to heal gas prices go up a rip the scab off the wound and start the bleeding again.

Seems to me that while the gov't sits back thinking of more ways to control our lives..they should be thinking of ways to control the price of gas...it's a 2 way street..lower gas prices, more traveling and more spending. If it stays the way it is now, people will stay home and not spend cause they sure as hell can't afford to go anywhere.

you don't say if venezin is married with a mortgage or children !!! sure a single guy with no alimony or kids can afford to drive to florida, providing, he/she has employment at a decent salary,, has only rent to pay,, and doesn't have to house & feed a family of 4 or more !!! add to that florida's desire to tax internet hotel/motel rooms at full cost, instead of advertised costs ( those hidden resort fees they slap you with upon check-in),, and you will kill tourism for families till the economy improves !!! and we are heading into a recession/depression that will make the last 5 years look like a walk in the park !!! so maturally the fools in st. john's aren't worried,,, they have their heads buried in the sand & can't see the forest through the trees....st. john's & st. augustine break every precedent ever set for money management,, never place all your eggs in 1 basket,,, never count your chickens before they hatch,,,a bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush... they seem to prefer egg on their faces,, and if gas prices remain at these levels,, they will be in serious deficit in short order & then our taxes go through the ceiling,, precipitating foreclosures & further adding to the downward spiral & misery of county residents... yet government stands idly by while the taxpayer takes a bath... they could suspend the clean air mixture in gas till better times ???
